Better known towns in Perthshire include Auchterarder (like Gleneagles well known for its golf course but also picturesque) and Pitlochry which is a picturesque town set amongst stunning mountain scenery in the Perthshire ‘Highlands’.

In terms of castles there is the imposing Glamis Castle in Angus with its wonderful surroundings which cannot fail to impress. There is also the privately owned white picturesque Blair Castle with wonderful interiors, portraits and fantastic grounds which is near the border with the Highlands. Of course, there is also Scone Palace which is rich in history and mystique and known as the original crowning place of the King of Scots. Any visit to Perthshire is not complete without a visit to the mysterious Scone Palace and its state rooms.
